General
Information: Artex® Type AP
The
AP is often used in busy practices and laboratories, and by dental
students, because of its adjustment features and durability. A convenient
centric lock prevents detachment during full opening-arc movement.
Bennett Angle is adjustable from -5° to 30°, and condylar
inclination from -20° to 60°. The AP can be set on the bench
at about a 45° angle using the support legs.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SETTING ADJUSTMENTS
The "AP" articulator (48700) is a semi-adjustable,
arcon articulator with adjustment settings for Bennett
angle and condylar inclination. It also features a
centric lock that allows for full opening movement
of the upper arm without risk of detachment. The lock
can be opened when detachment is desired.
The "AP" model features support legs, which
should be stored on the back of the vertical articulator
legs. To use the legs, remove them from the storage
slots and attach them to the holes on the back of
the vertical legs of the articulator. The support
legs allow the articulator to rest on a flat surface
at a 45° angle.
You will need to mount magnetic SPLITEX® plates
(46100) onto the articulator prior to using the unit
for the first time. (see separate instructions). Axis-related
models can then be mounted to the articulator by using
a "buffer plate" in between the magnetic
plates and the quick-setting plaster that will hold
the models.
"AP" adjustment ranges:
Bennett Angle: -5º to 30º
Condylar Inclination: -20º to 60º
Accomplishing settings and movements:
Lateral movement for replication
of excursions can be achieved by raising the centric
lock found on the back of the upper arm, to allow
the condyle balls freedom of movement along the condylar
pathways.
Condylar inclination setting adjustments
can be made by loosening the lower allen screws at
the rear of the upper arm of the articulator. Then
turn the condylar housing to the appropriate inclination
setting (lining up the front of the triangular point
with the correct hash mark), and relock the screw
heads.
Bennett Angle setting adjustments
can be made by loosening the allen screw on top of
either condylar housing, and turning the dial until
the white indicator line matches up with the desired
setting. Then relock the screw.
