ARTEX REGISTRATION & ARTICULATION
SYSTEM
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE TIPS
Rotofix Facebow:
- DO routinely lubricate all joint-sections of the universal
joint with silicone spray after sterilizing to prevent rusting
or locking of the joints.
- DO remove red plastic nasion-piece before sterilizing to prevent
melting.
- DO NOT put main portion of facebow, where joint attaches, into
a sterilizer. Earballs can be removed to be sterilized.
- DO use rubber cots over earballs for cleanliness and patient
comfort.
Plinth Mold:
- DO spray mold with silicone spray prior to pouring in stone
to make plate removal easier.
(make sure all three retention areas are completely clear of stone
and other contaminants)
- DO NOT clean plinth mold with water unless it is dried well.
Articulators:
- DO remove magnets from Splitex plates prior to cleaning articulator
to prevent contact with hot water. Hot water will cause strength
of magnet to become weaker.
- DO ensure that the housing for the magnet is completely dry
and free of any moisture prior to replacing magnet (residual water
can cause rust).
- DO NOT let magnet come in contact with other heat sources (flame),
which will reduce the strength of any magnet.
- DO occasionally clean and lubricate the condyle ball/ axis junction
on non-arcon articulators to ensure continued freedom of movement.
Use silicone spray as lubricant.
- DO mount casts into an Artex Mounting Unit to minimize water/plaster
contact with your precision adjustable instruments.
- DO store precision articulators in an Artex Carrying Case.
Transfer Tables:
- DO coat retention screws with petroleum jelly prior to using
them to make plaster removal easier.
