INSTRUCTIONS FOR SETTING ADJUSTMENTS
Prior to using your articulator, it will be necessary
to mount the permanent magnetic "Splitex"
onto the upper and lower arms of the unit. Please
refer to the "SPLITEX MOUNTING PLATE INSTALLATIONS
INSTRUCTIONS" technical guide for assistance
with this procedure. A Jensen Representative will
also be glad to offer assistance over the telephone,
and can be reached at 1-800-243-2000 from 8 am to
8 pm eastern standard time.
Centric Lock: There are two levers
at the back of the upper arm of the unit, which when
in the "down" position, lock the articulator
in centric. The articulator can be opened 180º
at this point. When the levers are both in the "up"
position, the upper arm of the articulator can be
removed. NOTE: If the levers are not even when in
the down position, check to be sure that settings
are equal on both sides of the unit, i.e. Condylar
Inclination is at 35º.
Bennett Angle Adjustment: A red-handled
allen wrench is supplied with each unit. To make adjustments
to the Bennett Angle setting (-5º to 30º),
use the allen wrench to loosen the set-screw in the
black housing on the right and left upper arm, and
turn the dial to line up the white line with the appropriate
setting.
Condylar Inclination Adjustment:
Condylar inclination adjustments can be made
by loosening the two lower screws on the back side
of the upper arm, and turning the dial with the horizontal-line
markings (-20º to 70º). Line the correct
mark up with the point of the triangle created by
the header on the upper arm, which is just to the
left of the markings. Lock the setting place by retightening
the screws on the back side of the upper arm.
Protusive Indicator: Use the red
knobs on the front of the upper arm to measure lateral
or protrusive movement, and to fix these positions
if desired. The protrusive indicator must be on "0"
in order to lock the articulator into centric.
Vertical Adjustability: Vertical
adjustments, for joint compression and distraction,
can be made by loosening the set-screws on the outer
side-arms, using the horizontal lines on the front
of the side-arm for reference.
Interchangeable Condylar Insert Pairs:
The standard condylar inserts supplied with the unit
feature a curvature radius of 12.5 mm. These can be
replaced with other condylar inserts in the following
6 formats:
Centric
Sideshift (only available in 12.5mm radius)
Flat
Radius 19.0 mm
Radius 12.5 mm (std)
.05 1.0 1.5
