IntraTec Tip

The IntraTech ProPress 100 has the capability to perform an automatic pressing cycle, which is ideal. To enable this valuable function, follow these 3 easy steps:

•Press the ‘Special Function’ button and turn the selector knob counter-clockwise to ‘Calibrate Oven,’ then press next.

•The furnace now asks for a password: turn the selector knob to ‘310’ and press next.

•Now it asks, "Use timed press?" Turn selector knob to ‘No,’ then press next. After enabling this feature, go to each pressing program and change the ‘Re-press’ time to match the recommendation above.

Note: Finding the optimal pressing temperature for each furnace is crucial. To determine the optimum pressing temperature, perform the following "press-to- failure" test. Lower the pressing temperature (step-by-step, usually 5° to 15° C) over two to three pressings until a mispress (failure) is attained. At this point, the last (previous) temperature at which everything pressed completely is considered the optimal pressing temperature. To make this experiment scientific and valid, work with only one variable at a time; in this case, pressing temperature. Also, observe several constants, including: entry temperature, rate of climb, hold time and re-press time.
