Authentic®
Pressed to metal A Brief Technique Guide
for single units
- Make a wax coping complete to the margin. Cut back the marginal
circumference 1-4mm.(This creates the area for the margin to be
completed with Authentic Pressable Cermamic)
- Invest with MICROSTAR HS INvestment and cast the wax up. Opaque
and fire the metal coping.
- Wax the margin directly to the opaqued casting, 60-100% of the
full anatomical form depending on whether you intend full layering
or minimal build-up and stainign as the method of fabrication.
(Minimum ceramic thickness: 0.8mm)
- Sprue, Invest, burnout and press with Authentic Pressable Cermaic
to create the optimum esthetic foundation for the final restoration.
- Complete the functional and esthetic build-up using Authentic
materials and techniques for layering, internal live staining, Micro-layering
and direct staining.
Prep Requirements:
- Anterior and posterior crowns: shoulder or chamfer.
- Feather ege preps require a thin metal margin.
Critical Controls:
- Alloy thickness: not less than 0.3mm
- Ceramic thickness:
Pressing: not less than 0.8mm
Finishing: not less than 0.6mm
- Alloy Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE)
@ 600 C: 15.8 to 16.7 / Ideal is 16.0 to 16.4
- Cooling times for layering/staining/glaze firings depends on alloy
used.
