Naoki
Aiba, CDT, Oral Design is a graduate of the Dental Technology Program at
the Dental School of Aichi Gakuin University in Nagoya, Japan, and has worked
extensively in both the United States and Japan. Among his many awards and
recognitions is the prestigious "Young Speaker of the Year Award",
presented to him by Dr. John McLean, OBE of the International Society for
Dental Ceramists.
Mr. Aiba has lectured and conducted seminars in more than 20 countries on ceramic restorations, dental photography and dentist-laboratory aesthetic communications.
He is the author of numerous articles featured in many of the industry's leading dental journals. His latest article entitled, "Breaking the Boundaries: Creating the Ideal Cervical Contour for Closing Interproximal Space" has been translated into four languages by the publishers of the Quintessence of Dental Technology Journals.
Mr.
Baer is an international lecturer and instructor for many companies in the
dental industry. He is also a tutor for implant prosthetics at the Dental
Master School in Cologne and at the University Donau Krems P.U.S.H. in Bonn.
Under the tutelage of Prof. Dr. W. Lueckerath, he has participated in a survey
of AGC technique on the intermediate double crown. He is a co-author of the
new edition of Horst Gruendler’s book “Meisterkoennen” (published
by Neuer Merkur) on implant prosthetics and all-ceramics. He currently is
in co-operation with the ZMK of the Rhenish Friedrich-Wilhelms University
in Bonn, headed by Prof. Koeck and Prof. Stark.
Mr. Baer received his CDT degree at the Chamber of Trade in Duesseldorf, Germany in 1983. He received his MDT degree in 1999 at the Dental Master School in Cologne with the top case study of the entire class. Since 1983, he has worked as the head of a department or as the managing director for several different labs. In 2007, he became the owner of a lab in St. Augustin.
Ralf
Barsties, MDT has 25 years of experience in dental technology and successfully
leads a dental lab in Berlin together with his brother Andree. There, he
also studied 4 university terms of architecture, expanding his knowledge
of statics and creative design.
The concept of his lab is a creative, vivid melting pot of innovative dental technology, research and development, and urban dentistry with the utmost respect for the esthetic individuality of each patient.
Ralf is a certified “specialist in esthetic dental technology” of the German Association for Esthetic Dentistry and a member of the Dental Excellence International Laboratory Group. He works internationally as a lecturer, course instructor and author of numerous dental publications.
He is a team worker focused on all-ceramics, complex implant, functional analysis and diagnostics. In his close co-operation with the patient and dentist, esthetics play a prominent role.
Patrick
Boche, CDT, MDT began his career in dental technology in 1991. He received
his CDT degree in 1994, whereupon he joined Laboratory Götsch to further
his experience. In 2001, he completed his MDT degree in Stuttgart. After
receiving his Master certification, he was promoted to Vice Manager of
Laboratory Dentaris in Leukirch, Germany. For the past three years, he
has worked with Creation Willi Geller as Technical Manager.
Mr.
Daniele Capoferri received his four-year dental technician education from
the Scuola Professionale Artigianale Industriale in Trevano, Switzerland
in 1997. Following graduation, he worked closely with one of the finest
master technicians in Europe, Hans Peter Spielman, in the office of Dr.
Uli Grunder of Zurich. Mr. Capoferri emigrated to the U.S. in 2000 where
he has been an integral member of Dr. Richard Kinsel’s restorative
and implant treatment team in Foster City, California. Currently, he manages
the Swiss Dental Design laboratory in Foster City emphasizing “natural
esthetics” in ceramic restorations and full mouth rehabilitations.
He has lectured and published with Dr. Kinsel.
Mr.
Chevalier has spent his entire working life perfecting his trade as a dental
technician. He started working in 1986 at Knight Dental Studio in Clearwater,
FL under the supervision of one of the co-owners, his father Al Chevalier.
He continued working for Knight for approximately 15 years at a satellite
R & D lab they had opened in middle Tennessee.
Later, he opened his own small, higher-end ceramic and crown and bridge lab in the same area of Tennessee. He became proficient at pressable ceramics using both Empress and Authentic® materials. His career took him in 2002 to northern Georgia where he became ceramics manager for a large full-service laboratory. He eventually migrated back into a smaller lab atmosphere where the focus was primarily pressed ceramics. In September of 2005, Steve became a valued member of Jensen's technical department, specializing primarily in topics related to pressable ceramics.
Mr.
Cornell graduated from his Dental Technology Program in 1981. He worked
in a small quality laboratory until opening his own lab in 1985. In 1988
Mr. Cornell began lecturing and teaching advanced ceramic techniques to
dentists and technicians in the United States. In 1989 he moved to Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, to work with Dr. Robert Winter, where he stayed until 1993.
Mr. Cornell now operates his laboratory in Madison, Connecticut. He is a member of the American Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry and has been extensively published in both dental and technical journals. To date, he has lectured and taught advanced ceramic techniques in more than thirty countries around the world.
Sue
founded Cruz Dental Studio in Tempe
Arizona, in 1991. Along with her staff of skilled technicians, she fabricates
gold and pressed to metal ceramics, including metal free restorations using both
pressable and
CAD/CAM technologies.
She graduated from Riverside City College, Riverside, California with a 2 year degree in Dental Laboratory while simultaneously completing an Associate in Arts Degree.
From 1976-1983, Sue was a personal technician for Dr. Omar Reed in Phoenix, Arizona. She mastered his techniques for “primary intent,” which allows the direct seating of gold inlays without try-ins. Dr. Reed and Sue instructed both doctors and technicians, who believe that gold restorations can last a lifetime.
Two courses for one-on-one training are offered in her lab. A 2 day hands-on course covering all aspects of cast gold restorations and a 1 day Speed Waxing course. Both classes are eligible for CE credits.
Sue is the co-founder of Aristos Study Club. It is a national network of independent laboratory owners who meet two times per year to discuss and collaborate on business, marketing and the current trends and techniques in the dental laboratory industry.
Russell
T. DeVreugd, CDT, is an international consultant and lecturer in the field
of Fixed Restorative Dentistry. He has presented courses on occlusion,
contour, color and anterior esthetics throughout North
America and Europe.
Mr. DeVreugd has served as a consultant/lecturer for the Department of Biologic and Material Science, University of Michigan School of Dentistry, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and the undergraduate and graduate prosthodontic programs at the University of California School of Dentistry, San Francisco, California, and was appointed Regents Lecturer in 1984/85.
Mr. DeVreugd is a contributing author in the textbook Science and Practice of Occlusion and Quintessence of Dental Technology,1997, published by Quintessence Publishing Co. Inc. Mr. DeVreugd has presented to The American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, The International Academy of Gnathology, The American Dental Association, American Prosthodontic Society, Pacific Coast Society of Prosthodontists, The Carl O. Boucher Prosthodontic Conference, Dental Center for Postgraduate Courses, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Karl Haupl Institute, Dusseldorf, Germany and local, state, and national associations.
Russell owns and operates DeVreugd Dental Laboratory and International Dental Seminars in Grand Rapids, MI.
Juergen Dieterich is a Dental Technician based in Winnenden, Germany, specializing in PFM, full-ceramic, and implant techniques. He completed his continuing
education in Germany and is now an international lecturer and course instructor
in Europe and abroad. His professional focus includes developing and improving
concepts related to precision, function and aesthetics in anterior and
implant-supported reconstructions.
Juergen has authored several articles for many prestigious worldwide dental magazines and recently published the book The Temporary Restoration in cooperation with Horst Dieterich.
He is a member of the executive board and currently Vice-Chairman of ÄFZ (Arbeitskreis fuer Aesthetisch Funktionelle Zahnheilkunde Stuttgart Study Club for Esthetic and Functional Dentistry Stuttgart) and the founding member of the study group Dental Excellence. In 1999, he was the recipient of the Lugano/Switzerland: Team-Award (issued by Dental Dialogue), together with Horst Dieterich.
Mr.
Gebhard graduated from his dental technology school in Karlsruhe, Germany
in 1977. He worked as ceramist in different laboratories in Germany until
1983 when he moved to Salerno, Italy. There Mr. Gebhard became the Chief
Technician at the “Centro Odontoiatrico Salernitano” in collaboration with
Dr. med. Dent. Osvaldo Aquaviva. In 1987 Mr. Gebhard started to work in
Mr. Alwin Schönebergers Dental-Laboratory in Glattbrugg, Switzerland till
1990 when he grained several months experience working with Jürg Stuck,
ZTM in Germany. 1991 Mr. Gebhard started his first own business with Mr.
A. Nguyen as partner in Zurich, Switzerland, the Creadent Dental-Lab.
Since 1994 he operates his own Laboratory in Zurich, Switzerland (Gebhard AG) with priorities on fixed and implant supported reconstructions and functional aesthetic interaction.
Mr. Gebhard is specialized on fixed and
implant supported restorations, PFM and metal-free techniques with
priorities on function and aesthetics. He is living the idea of the team-approach
working together with dentist and patient, especially with private
practising dentists in Switzerland, Italy and Germany and he works in a
close co-operation with the Universities of Zurich and Bale. Mr. Gebhard
hold hands on seminars and lectures in America, Europe and Asia. He is
also published in dental and technical journals with various articles about
aesthetic dentistry and technology.
Mr.
Michael Gorshe, owner of MG Artology Inc. has been involved in dental
technology for 25 years and has owned and run several laboratories
as well as consul ting.
Mr Gorshe would not characterize himself as a dental technician as he has many passions in life however has made considerable contributions to the dental industry.
The arts, technology, science and history are all great passions of
Mr. Gorshe and he works in other fields such as commercial art and computer related
industries.
Mr. Gorshe teaches ceramics and other dental related disciplines as
well as photography, computer programming, digital communication and CAD design
in CG arts.
Dr.
Galip Gurel graduated from the University of Istanbul, Dental School in
1981. He continued his education at the University of Kentucky, Department
of Prosthodontics. Received his MSC degree from Yeditepe University in
Istanbul.
Dr. Gurel is the founder and current president of EDAD (Turkish Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry).
He is a member of the American Society for Dental Aesthetics (ASDA) and the honorary diplomate of the American Board of Aesthetic Dentistry (ABAD) as well as an active member and the vice-president of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED).
He is also the editor-in-chief of the Quintessence Magazine in Turkey and on the editorial board of the AACD journal, PPAD (Practical Procedure & Aesthetic Dentistry), EJED and Spectrum.
He has been lecturing on dental aesthetics all over the world and giving post graduate lectures on aesthetics at the New York University, New York and Yeditepe University in Turkey.
He is the author of The Science and Art of Porcelain Laminate Veneers published by Quintessence publications in 2003. He has been practicing in his own clinic in Istanbul, specializing in Aesthetic Dentistry, since 1984.
A reknown sportsman, Dr. Gurel has been the Captain of the Turkish National Team
of Water Polo for 110 times, a World Champion of the Camel Trophy and a participant
of the Paris-Dakar Rally.
Amos Harting, CDT, is a graduate of the University of Missouri at St. Louis Class of 1978 with a Bachelors of Science. He then received his Associate’s Degree in dental technology in 1980.
Today, Amos continues to learn contemporary techniques and philosophies through the Oral Design Group, the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study and the Seattle Study Club.
Mr. Harting currently owns and operates Harting Dental Arts Lab, Inc., a family owned business for 50 years in St. Louis, Missouri. He also takes pleasure in teaching practical aesthetics and advanced porcelain building classes and seminars at his labs education center and for Jensen Industries throughout the country.
Through the mentoring from his father and today’s finest technicians, he continues to strive for excellence in distinctive aesthetics, as well as the advancement of laboratory-dentist communication strategies in crown & bridge, implants and removable restorations.
Mr.
Harris is presently working as a marketing and sales consultant in the
Dental industry. Mr. Harris started his marketing and advertising career
with Nabisco Foods in Canada. He then joined the dental industry with
Nobel Biocare in 1988 working with Brånemark System® learning
all aspects of the dental implant market including lecturing on both the
clinical and practice management aspects of implants.
In 1997, Mr. Harris was involved in the inception of Procera® in the
Canadian dental Market. This included establishing network laboratories,
training and marketing. Mr. Harris joined the US Procera® team in
1998 acting as the Regional Director and lecturing extensively throughout
the US, including the Mayo Clinic.
In June of 1999 Mr. Harris accepted a role with Dental Services Group as the Director of Sales and Marketing. With DSG 30 owned labs and 55 million in sales, Mr. Harris had the opportunity to experience a wide range of successful marketing and implementation programs in many regions of the country. Choosing the right product for the right laboratory market has never been so challenging. Especially when there is such an era of new materials and technologies.
Marcus Krage is a Certified Dental Implant Technician and the owner of Dental Labor Krage GmbH in Hameln, Germany. This laboratory of six CDTs focuses on all ceramics and implants. Prior to joining his family’s 70-year old business, Mr. Krage worked for six years as a technical support manager at multiple German laboratories.
For over two decades, Jason J. Kim, CDT, founder and president of Jason J. Kim Dental Laboratory, has dedicated himself to the advanced study of aesthetics and prosthetic techniques. Kim is a distinguished member of the Oral Design Group, where he studies under the tutelage of master ceramist Willi Geller.
Kim is a highly sought after lecturer around the world, enlightening professional
colleagues on the subject of porcelain fabrication and the applications
of shading and layering techniques. As a pioneer in the practice of cosmetic
dentistry, Kim's impact is evidenced by his conception and production of
unprecedented whiter shades that have enabled practitioners to remain aligned
with present bleaching techniques.
Kim has also introduced a seamlessly integrated "team approach"
to aesthetic casework with the implementation of sophisticated computer
video conferencing communication and ancillary visual guides, which have
been instrumental in ensuring predictable and consistent results. A proponent
of the renowned Dawson Theory of Occlusion, Kim applies a standardized operating
procedure for fabricating cases and incorporating precise function with
aesthetics. A revered and devoted practitioner, Jason J. Kim continues to
dedicate himself to the advanced art of Aesthetic Dentistry.
Chris Ling, CDT, graduated with honors in 1995 from the University of North Texas with a B.A. in Television and Film Production, and a minor in Photography. After a short stint in television, Chris discovered dental technology and it's artistic applications. In 1997, he started in the model department, quickly advanced to ceramics, and hasn't looked back since.
In 2005, Chris and his wife Carrie opened Lifelike Dental Studio, Inc. where they specialize in aesthetics and dentist-lab communication. Mr. Ling believes in collaboration with fellow technicians, learning new techniques and sharing insights with colleagues. "The more we learn from each other, the better our industry becomes", Chris emphatically believes. "There is no real benefit to guarding your techniques or 'trade secrets'". Mr. Ling knows his techniques are an amalgamation of "tips and tricks" he has learned first hand from technicians such as Michel Magne, Randey Smith, and Amos Harting.
In 2007, Chris' work was selected as one of the top four crowns in LMT's Crown Challenge. A true honor, but Chris feels only a first step in his career.
Terry McQuiston, CDT, operated an exclusive dental studio
for many years in Georgia that focused on the science and art of fixed
prosthetics with a strong emphasis on advanced esthetics. He received
his technical training at Lindsey-Hopkins in Miami, Florida after first
having studied chemistry at the University of the South in Tennessee,
and Guilford College in North Carolina after serving in the U.S. Army.
His past experiences as a private technician and his associations with
leading prosthodontists have formed the foundation of his restorative
philosophy. Additional formal training at the Tanaka Institute, as well
as his continued dialogue and advanced ceramic application training with
such internationally acclaimed instructors as Don Cornell, Dr. Robert
Winter, Geller, Hegenbarth, Brix, and more, provide him with the unique
ability to relate to multiple dental disciplines and instruct at every
level of experience.
Terry maintains an active role in dental education through his lectures, presentations, and associations, with many of the world's most recognized leaders in both technical and clinical dentistry. His participation in state, regional, national and international dental technology associations, publications, and forums are processed into his everyday communications and provide the backbone for his lectures and courses. Currently, he sits on the advisory board for Dental Dialogue and Dental Dialogue International magazines. He has consulted for a variety of international manufacturing concerns on a wide variety of technically related topics.
Hardi
Mink, Owner of Al Dente Zahnlabor in Fellbach, Germany, is an international
dental technician, author and speaker, contributing professional insight
on aesthetic and implant prosthetics. After practicing in New Zealand and
Austria and managing a lab in Stuttgart, he opened his own lab in 1997,
focusing on full ceramics and removables. He is a member of the AFZ, DGAFZ,
and ESED (European Society of Esthetic Dentistry). A distinguished technician,
Mr. Mink is an established author of several articles and an accredited
speaker for professional audiences in Germany and the Netherlands.
Stefan Müller, CDT began his dental career in 1987. After receiving his certification in 1990, he worked for two laboratories in Munich, then another in Australia. He then returned to a laboratory in Munich, where he was employed as General Manager before opening his own laboratory. Most recently, Mr. Müller has worked as the Technical Support Manager of the Ceramay product line for Jensen GmbH in Metzingen.
Bill Parks, CDT, received his initial laboratory training in 1972 in the USAF. He is partner in Sanders Dental Ceramics, a full service dental laboratory, located in Anchorage, Alaska. He is co-founder of The Alaska Academy of Dental Technology, which sponsors continuing education courses for dentists, technicians and fisherman. Bill has lectured and given hands-on presentations throughout the United States and Canada on layering techniques for pressable ceramic restorations as well as zirconium-based restorations. Bill also has had the opportunity to author technical articles for a major dental laboratory magazine. His passion for the work has led him to study under many of the masters in the field of dental technology.
Peter Pizzi, MDT, is the owner and manager of Pizzi Dental Studio Inc. in Staten Island, NY and is a board member of the ASMDT and a member of ICIO and AACD.
Mr. Pizzi is an educator in the Master Dental Technician Program of New York University. In addition, he is a Technical Fellow and Board Member of Northeastern Gnathalogical Society. Mr. Pizzi is on the National Advisory Board of Dental Dialogue and frequently lectures to doctors and technicians throughout the United States on a variety of topics.
Antonello
Remartini was born June 22nd, 1966 in Milan, Italy. He graduated from
the Institute of Dental Technology in Milan and received his diploma in
1983. He worked for different commercial dental laboratories in Italy,
before he immigrated in 1988 to Quebec, Canada. The same year, he opened
his own C&B laboratory Rema-Dents, Inc., concentrating on esthetic cases.
He mastered his ceramic technique by attending different hands-on courses
in Europe and North America, where he learned from the best ceramists.
Last six years, he has been working with the Prosthodontist Department
of University of Montreal in Montreal, Quebec. Since 1999 he has worked
as Jensen's technical adviser, demonstrating Creation porcelain and teaching
advanced porcelain techniques across Canada.
Randey Smith, CDT, owner of RCS Dental Ceramics in San Diego, CA, has worked in the dental technology field since 1982. Mr. Smith has studied under world-renowned ceramists Klaus Mutertheis, Hitoshi Aoshima, Gerald Ubassy, Claude Sieber, Abel Fernandez, Naoki Aiba, and many more.
Mr. Smith teaches and demonstrates the latest porcelain techniques to other technicians throughout the United States and Canada and is also a guest instructor for Dr. Ed McLaren's UCLA School for Aesthetic Dental Design.
Mr.
Vaterlaus graduated from Northeast Metro Technical College in White Bear
Lake, Minnesota and while attending won the ADA Laboratory Technicians
scholarship. He developed his technical skills working in a small
laboratory and attending advanced courses. In 1998, he became the
laboratory technology instructor for the Graduate Prosthodontics program
at the University of Minnesota where he still lectures regularly. He
currently operates Advanced Dental Ceramics Inc., a small Laboratory in
Minneapolis, Minnesota. Most recently Mr. Vaterlaus was chosen as
winner of the Crown Challenge in LMT Magazine.
