Creation Procelain: Before you Begin

The Creation and Surprise porcelains offer a unique system for the fabrication of porcelain restorations with exceptional aesthetics and reliability. Obtaining the combination of aesthetics and reliability may require some small changes in laboratory technique, and, as with any porcelain system, the optimum combination of properties is obtained only when the materials are fired to the correct maturity. The following handling and firing instructions should be followed.

FIRING CONDITIONS:

	Start with a furnace that is calibrated to the instructions of the furnace manufacturer.
	Evaluate the fired maturity of the opaques as described in the Firing Technique Guide and adjust all firing temperatures for your furnace if necessary.
	Observe the recommended furnace entry times. Do not cut this time short or substitute "bench drying" for furnace entry time.

HANDLING CONDITIONS:

	Use only the special liquids recommended for use with the various system components.
	Keep the build-up wet. Do not vibrate or press to condense and remove liquid. If placed material is excessively wet, pull the excess moisture through the previously placed porcelain with a blotting paper.
	After making a cutback (such as the cutback of the dentin for the enamel addition), re-wet the porcelain with the Creation liquid recommended for use with the material being added or distilled water. Do not use a water spray or mist for re-wetting.
	Grind all areas to which an add-on must be made to fired porcelain. Then, wet the ground areas with the Universal Liquid. Do not attempt an add-on to un-abraded porcelain. Do not blot porcelain placed for an add-on. Always ultrasonically clean previously ground porcelain prior to placing additional powders on the surface.
